It seems like the more I get done on my own, the more money I keep in my pocket.
- Of course, that’s not exactly rocket science.
But I do my best to keep things working on our property. We have a fairly big piece of property with several barns and out buildings on it. This was once a big, working farm before it got carved up for homes with central air conditioning. But at least these are 50 acre plots so it’s not like I have my neighbor looking over the fence. We just happened to buy the homestead part with the out buildings. We had a custom house built and we even have a geothermal heat pump. It’s pretty amazing really just how efficient this HVAC technology is. It actually uses the earth’s near constant temperature to supply the heating and cooling energy for the quality heating and air of our home. There is radiant floor heating the winter but the summer is just straight up old school air conditioning. I love this house but it does take some energy to keep this entire property up. I think maybe I bit off a bit more than I could chew. But I’ve always wanted a cool piece of land all my own. One thing I do not try to work on is that geothermal heat pump. Heck, if it was just a traditional heat pump I wouldn’t mess with it either. I know my limitations and unless you are a licensed, certified HVAC technician, you shouldn’t be working on HVAC equipment either. Leave any sort of service or HVAC repair to the HVAC company.
