Adding appliances to automation system

Adding appliances to automation system

When I first looked into an automation system for my home, they were mainly intended for commercial application.

  • The systems were very expensive and not catered toward the needs of homeowners.

Several years later, when I once again researched automation systems, I was amazed by the progress. Today’s systems are not only quite affordable but wonderfully customizable and convenient. Investing into a smart home typically pays for itself in energy savings alone. Navigating the many amenities and possibilities was a bit overwhelming. There are all sorts of options that work to simplify the management of the household. Every smart appliance is able to be incorporated into the system for easier programming, automated adjustment and reminders for maintenance. As I have replaced appliances in my home, I’ve upgraded to smart options that can then be included in the automation hub. My washing machine, dryer, water heater, refrigerator, oven thermostat, sump pump, lights, sound system, dishwasher and coffee maker are all accessible through my phone, laptop or tablet. I can arrange it so that the oven starts up at a specific time and that the lights turn on in specific rooms when I arrive home from work. The temperature is always perfectly comfortable when I’m home but is adjusted when the house is empty to conserve energy. I get reminders when it’s time to schedule annual service for the air conditioner and furnace, alerts when there is a power outage and helpful energy saving tips. I even have the sprinklers for the lawn incorporated into the system. Having the automation system saves me a great deal of time and helps to minimize carbon footprint.
