Please watch your kids; they love air ducts

When I became a heating, cooling, and ventilation technician, I never expected that I would start to have so many enemies in this world.

Let me be clear, I don’t personally hate anybody…

but professionally I have a lot of adversaries. Not only am I extremely competitive when it comes to local heating and cooling repair shops. I often get into squabbles with the other HVAC technicians when I interact with them at local bars and restaurants. However, every member of the household can become a formidable opponent. When I am trying to repair a central heating, cooling, and ventilation system the last thing that I want to see in the house is a bunch of animals. I can’t tell you how much dirt, dander, and debris enters the average heating and cooling system because of bountiful animal hair. It’s difficult to manage your pets enough to manage your indoor air quality. Besides animals, I really don’t enjoy attending heating and cooling repair jobs when there are children in the house. I have nothing against children, per se, except when they are determined to ruin the central heating and cooling system. I can’t tell you how many times I have found toys and articles of clothing jammed into air duct work. It seems like kids have a penchant for trying to play with the air ducts and air vents, let alone the terror that they impart on the thermostat system. They create a lot of extra work for me on every family HVAC repair job. I can tell you right now, if you want your heating and cooling system to last… Don’t have children.
