Sometimes I wonder if humans and animals are really that compatible.
We assume that cats and dogs enjoy being indoor pets, but we have no proof of that. We don’t know if feeding them dry bag food is actually a good idea. We really can’t fathom what they are thinking or feeling at any point throughout our busy humid life. As such, sometimes I worry if it would be better for my animals to just go outside and live like animals. It certainly seems like my dog would prefer that manner of living sometimes. This is especially the case when I am operating our central cooling system inside the house and he is refusing to come indoors. All summer we have been having this air temperature control battle between my family and the dog. Of course, because it is extremely hot and humid outside we appreciate running the air conditioning system. Apparently, not everybody feels the same way about our high-powered AC unit. Whenever we adjust the thermostat to decrease the indoor air temperature my dog gets a strange look on his face. I swear he understands the connection between the thermostat and the air conditioning unit. He immediately wants to go outside and bask in the sun when the AC starts blowing through our air vents. Everyday we have to try to coax my dog back inside if we are using the central air conditioning unit. In the meantime, all of our high-quality treated indoor air flows outside while he protests in the heat. Maybe it would be better to just let him stay outside and melt.
