I love my in-laws, and it’s such a relief that we get along well. I really wasn’t sure what we were going to think of each other because they come from a much wealthier place than I do, and I was afraid they would look down on my upbringing. However, I’ve been delightfully surprised to find that we get along swimmingly, and have no trouble carrying conversation between the three of us. Still, it is amazing for me to be around all their expensive belongings in their beautiful house. Recently they even built themselves a fancy wine cooler, requiring all sorts of HVAC installations and rewiring to make the addition come to life. They were telling me that the room needed to be kept at least ten degrees lower than the rest of the house, so it required the addition of a special AC unit to service only the single room. Because they live in Florida, they cannot have a basement, which would be the natural solution for keeping the wine at a lower temperature, so the air conditioner was the only option. They also needed to have a separate temperature control unit to set this space at a single consistent temperature, along with several monitoring devices to ensure there were no temperature fluctuations. The temp monitors are spaced throughout the room so that every bottle is kept under the same highly regulated air conditions. I don’t relate to the money my in-laws have, but I really appreciate their dedication to doing projects correctly and their attention to detail.
