I met quite a few creature enthusiasts when I worked at a petstore in high university. I have to say that there were some interesting folks that frequented the shop, plus it was regularly fun to hear about the new projects they were embarking on for the sake of their pets. I have to say that the most radical pet owners were those people who obsessed over reptiles, plus one couple in particular genuinely takes the cake. They told me that they had recently renovated an entire bedroom of their household to be a reptile sanctuary, complete with temperature plus humidity control to keep the reptiles in the perfect environment. This sounds silly right off the bat, but just wait until you hear the extent of their HVAC installations. Their pets need external heat to stay alive, but the folks didn’t want to supply them the same outdated furnace-driven heat that they used, so instead they installed radiant radiant floors. This method of heat would be similar to the small rock ornaments that all the people purchase for their terrariums, keeping their lizards comfortable. They also had heat lamps installed in some areas so the lizards could bask as they would in the wild, and finally, they had humidifying machines arenad all around the space to keep the air at the perfect relative humidity for their critters, plus a few automated misters so they could add extra water to the air at any point with the click of a button. It’s silly what people will do for the things they love!
