Noticing a gap in the front door that makes my home cold in the winter time

As I was sitting in my apartment the other day, I noticed a bug on the wall.

I didn’t think much of it since bugs can be found almost anywhere.

I find one occasionally. This time, I kept on finding them and they were not good looking bugs. I was wondering where they were coming from. I looked all around. While looking around the apartment, I realized why my apartment gets to be so cold in the winter time. There is a part of the door that is not fully insulated. There is a space or a gap between the door and the frame that I can see right outside. I was not going to have that this winter. I called my HVAC technician as soon as I saw this. I do not want my apartment to be super cold this winter. Having that gap is not good for the HVAC system either. It will cause the system to work extra hard to warm the apartment that doesn’t even get that warm to begin with. The HVAC system could breakdown and then I would be left with no heat at all. Then, extra cold air would be filling the apartment anyway from the gap. The HVAC technician told me that they could try to insulate it with spray foam. If that was not going to work for the gap I would have to call someone to replace the door and the frame. I would do whatever it took to protect my HVAC system and my home from getting too cold this winter.
