College dorming isn’t easy.
- There are many perks, of course, like living with your friends, cheap housing, and convenient dining options.
It was a load of fun times too! However, there are many challenges as well. Learning to live independent of your parents is very difficult. It is also hard to live with a total stranger. Additionally, there are small inconveniences, like heating and cooling mishaps, that make it a bit challenging as well. For example, during my freshmen year, the heating system was being repaired one weekend. During the repair, the school had to turn off the heating system. It was turned off for two whole days in the middle of the coldest winter weekend. It was freezing! Many students complained to the school board and took it as far as filing official complaints. I probably would’ve done the same, but I made it through that weekend thanks to a gift from my mom. The only thing that got me through this was my heated blanket. This blanket was so powerful that it kept me warm all night despite the lack of heat. I almost forgot about the lack of heating system at night because the blanket was keeping me so warm. I was actually overheating a few times. I was beyond thankful that my mom sent me this blanket when I first moved into my dorm. I didn’t think it was necessary, but Mom always knows best! After those few days, the heating system was up and running again. All was back to normal on my college campus.
